Cinco de Mayo

I went to the mall across the street to mail a package in the mall (it was an eBay auction winner who lived in Canada). The post office was inside a gourmet food shop – apparently they sublet in some stores. I found a liquor store nearby, and picked up a 4 pack of Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale. I headed up to the food court to get some food, and remembered it was Cinco de Mayo when I saw Taco Time there. Mexican fast food seemed appropriate, so I got a burrito and taco and headed back.

I found “Angel” on TV, and watched while I ate. Once I finished, I headed down to the gym and got on the treadmill. Some guy lifting waits had turned on “CSI”, so I watched half of that, then watched the rest of it in my room. After that, I read until I was tired. Not exactly non stop excitement, but an enjoyable night.

Over half done

Not going to be here too much longer now. It’s not that the work is terrible, it’s just labor intensive and mind numbing.

The folks here are nice, I’ve gone out to lunch with them yesterday and today. Yesterday we went to Orchid Delight, a Chinese buffet place. The buffet was cheap, but it only had 6 dishes, and 2 were veggies and rice. Chicken with hot peppers was good, though. Today we went to Sushi Garden and got a meal for 3, which was more than enough to fill up 4 of us.

Dinner has been Asian as well. Last time I was here, we passed the Green Lettuce, which advertised Indian style Chinese food. I went on Monday and had a chicken dish, which was nice and spicy. Now if only I had remembered to ask for utensils it would have been perfect. Last night I went to Pho Century and got Combo 8, a bunch of appetizers on skewers. Very tasty.

Weekend update

I’m still stuck here in Vancouver, and won’t comment on that any further today except to say I’ve got a killer headache.

I want to talk about last weekend. Friday was nice. Because of the move and my trip I didn’t work too hard. I went in to the new office and worked until the VPN went down, then played some basketball. Jill and I went to Big Bowl in Reston for dinner, I had the green beans and Sichuan chicken, both nice and spicy. Da Vinci’s Notebook were hilarious as usual – especially fun was their cover of Styx’s “Come Sail Away” during the encore.

Saturday was Mel and Scott’s wedding. We had to head out early in the day, as I wanted to absentee vote for the Town Of Herndon elections (held today), and we needed to shop. I found that both of my white shirts had stains, and Jill didn’t like the dress she had bought. We found what we needed at JC Penney’s; I also picked up a pair of pants since I had time. We changed at my mom’s house, since she’s five minutes from the chapel, and made it with 5 minutes to spare.

The ceremony was brief, and the reception was a lot of fun. Jill had agreed to drive, and I consumed mass quantities of alcohol. I enjoyed talking to Mel’s family again (her little brother John is huge), and especially best friend Scott. We were there late – it started at 7:30, and we left after 12:30.

Woke up Sunday with a bit of a hangover. I didn’t eat until 5:30, after I had time to read the paper, then cook up the cilantro chicken I had marinated on Saturday. I watched a lot of TV as I cleaned up and packed (can’t wait for the “Alias” finale), then collapsed into bed at 1.

Vancouver again

Well, I’m here and running on fumes. I got to bed last night at 1, got up at 5:30 for the trip here. Thankfully, I’m almost done for the day. The trip wasn’t bad – Dulles to Seattle on Alaska Air, then a puddle jumper here. Not much more to say for now.
