This is the big week – concerts now through Sunday, nothing I could say no to. But I had my physical this morning and I just had a massage to assure I’m in tiptop shape.
Tonight, it’s Barenaked Ladies and Alanis Morrissette, with Mark McAdam doing a short opening set at Merriweather. A nice Canadian tour, eh? I like what BNL’s doing with their setlists:
Brian Wilson
Some Fantastic
Adlib
Maybe Katie
2-3 songs
For You
One Week
Pinch Me
Old Apartment
2-3 songs
It’s All Been Done
Shopping
1 song
If I Had $1,000,000
The “2-3 songs” could be any song they’ve ever done, from “Alternative Girlfriend” to “Roadrunner” and “Night Photographs”. Not sure, but BNL was supposed to open, and now they might be closing (according to an Alanis fan site). We’ll still try to get to Merriweather by 7:15. Also nice to know is they’re selling CDs of the shows.
Tomorrow is Sarah McLachlan, with Butterfly Boucher opening, also at Merriweather. I’ve only seen Sarah as part of Lilith Fair, so should be interesting to see the full show.
Thursday, Dar Williams with Nerissa & Katryna Nields opening at the Birchmere. Dar wasn’t able to make Falcon Ridge this year, and I guess Jill missed her too, as this was our free night and Jill wanted to go.
Friday, Prince at the MCI Center. We don’t have tix to this one, so we’ll see what happens.
Saturday, Eddie From Ohio at the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival. We’re staying at Stuart’s dad’s place in Bryce who says the acoustics are perfect, should be fun.
And finally Sunday Jill takes a break while Stuart and I check out The Dead at Nissan.
